Soorjya has over 23 years of experience in dispute resolution across civil, commercial, constitutional and insolvency matters. A large part of his practice revolves around arbitration, and he has advised several multi-national entities during his stint as a litigator and arbitration counsel.<\/p>\n

Soorjya represents his clients before the Supreme Court of India, several High Courts across the country, the National Company Law Tribunal, and other quasi-judicial authorities. \u00a0He has been involved in several international and domestic arbitrations under the rules of arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Paris, Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Singapore, and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), London.<\/p>\n

He is recognised as a leading practitioner by Legal 500, a notable practitioner by Chambers and Partners, and a standout practitioner in litigation and arbitration by ALB India (2023, 2020).<\/p>\n

Soorjya graduated from Symbiosis Law College in 2003 and holds an LL.M. from the University of Bristol, U.K. Before joining Argus Partners, he was an independent counsel and has also worked with Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A.   • Advised Kalpataru Projects international Ltd (lead counsel till cross examination) in disputes with a listed Indian Governmental entity concerning a power project in Eastern India.<\/li>\n
  • Advised Sterling and Wilson (as lead counsel) in disputes with one of India\u2019s leading EPC contractors (listed entity) for setting up IT Parks and supporting infrastructure in Mumbai.<\/li>\n

  • Advised Damodar Valley Corporation (as lead counsel) in a significant dispute emanating from a Power Purchase Agreement with an Indian company.<\/li>\n
  • Advised ABB India Ltd (as lead counsel) in disputes with a leading Indian Governmental entity concerning upgradation of its oil pipelines in Assam, India.<\/li>\n

  • Represented JMS Mining (as lead arguing counsel) before the High Court at Telangana in dispute with Singareni Collieries Company in a dispute under a mining contract.<\/li>\n
  • Represented the Liquidator for M\/s Concast Steel and Power Ltd. before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal in a significant judgment addressing the inclusion of leasehold rights in a corporate debtor\u2019s liquidation estate under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.<\/li>\n
  • Represented United Hotels and Properties (HHI Group) against Vodafone Idea in a significant cyber negligence case.<\/li>\n
  • Represented Tata Steel Limited, in their bid to acquire Rohit Ferro-Tech Limited through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tata Steel Mining Limited, under the aegis of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.<\/li>\n
  • Represented the committee of creditors in the insolvency proceedings of Binani Cements Limited under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 in litigations from NCLT and all the way to the Supreme Court of India.<\/li>\n
  • Represented Tega Industries Limited on its resolution plan for acquisition of McNally Sayaji Engineering Limited.<\/li>\n
  • Represented Bank of New York Mellon in disputes concerning defaults under FCCBs.<\/li>\n
