Prashanth Sabeshan

Prashanth specializes in general corporate, infrastructure, electricity, renewables and clean energy, oil & gas, ports, banking and project finance, foreign investments and regulatory and policy advisory sectors.

He has over 22 years’ experience and is, dual qualified as an advocate and a solicitor in India and UK. He has worked with many other leading law firms in India and abroad. Prashanth has recently authored the book “Investing in India’s Infrastructure and Energy Sectors – Laws and Practice” published by Thomson Reuters. Prashanth speaks regularly at various forums on select legal issues and is also a visiting faculty at a few law schools.

Prashanth graduated in the year 1997 from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

Prashanth joined the Firm in the Bangalore office as a Partner in the Corporate and Infrastructure practice in 2021. Prior to joining the Firm, Prashanth was a Partner with AZB & Partners.

Select Professional Experience

  • Advised a leading public sector petroleum Maharatna entity on its USD 1.9 billion investment and financing of a LNG Train Project in Mozambique.
  • Advised a Singapore based leading real estate developer cum investor on the Amaravati Capital City Project in Andhra Pradesh, the first capital city project in India.
  • Advised a leading port terminal and gas fields operator on their day to day operations and contractual issues in various port terminal projects – Kandla, Ennore, New Mangalore, and its acquisition of interests in a LNG Project (Kakinada), Piped Gas Network (Pune) and acquisition of farm out interests in various gas fields.
  • Advised a leading Japanese multi national’s wholly owned subsidiary in India on their EPC contract negotiations and finalization of other contracts on their 326 MW Wind Project in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Advised a leading US based gas major on their tender and joint venture arrangements for a floating gas storage project at Kolkata Port.
  • Advised financiers on the financing of two wind project in Andhra Pradesh promoted by the one of the leading renewable energy groups in India.
