Startups have to take fresh user consent for past data
Our Partner, Vinod Joseph shares his views in an article published by the Financial Express titled, “Startups have to take fresh user consent for past data.”
The article analyses the consent requirements of tech start-ups (primarily in the consumer internet space) from users for their past data as per the provisions specified under the recent Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022.
Commenting on the development, Vinod noted that, “Section 6 of the newly drafted Bill has very clearly said that consumer-facing startups will also have to provide customers with the right to withdraw their consent for such previously collected data and also provide a copy of the personal data collected on-demand.”
